Old Rocks

Another image from my New Year's trip to the wild west Tarkine wilderness.

The rocks in this area include dolomites, quartz wackes-sandstones and siltstones and interbanded phyllitic siltsones with some basaltic units. All have been intruded by a dyke swarm of Precambrian dolerite, thought to be at least 750 million years old....so the bulk of the rocks of the region are older, maybe a lot older...

Two exposure blend,

Nikkon D700, Nikkor 17-35 mm @ 17mm,

2.5 s and 0.6 s @ f 22, ISO 100
