Earth Hour in Idaho: Studying. March 28, 2009
Earth Hour: Pretty much symbolic. We have a lot of nice symbolism in this world, but little action. But I decided to do something at least:
So I am studying about the One who can truly save the earth in front of a nice fire (Not running the electric heat) working a little on my old Mac laptop (Y2K computer 'repurposed' instead of disposed of, uses very little energy) and it is all lit with two LED flashlights. (Of course they are pointing this way for the picture only, It's kind of hard to read in the dark with lights shining in your eyes!).
I just realized I am also sitting on a reused cardboard box full of old books other people gave away, my wife JoAnna gets and either reads or returns to used book stores for someone else to read, that's gotta count for something! All our furniture is second hand, bought cheap and repaired and cleaned, boy oh boy, we are just a savin' the entire planet from excess rubbish!
Of course when we are done with anything we just pile it up in the back yard let it rot for a year then have a big stinking smoky bonfire in the summer! Wood, plastic, aluminum, whatever!
No wait, that's the neighbors...
I'm not really an environmentalist. Its not that I don't think it's a good cause, and I like that they can get some things accomplished but I really I don't believe they can save the earth!
