Self portrait
Decided to mess about shooting a self portrait since I can’t carry my camera gear currently due to recovering from an eye issue.
Well when I say I issue I’ve been blind in my left eye for about 20 years thanks to complications of Type 1 diabetes & thanks to the numerous surgeries in it the eye is pretty deformed now and the muscles in my left eyelid are shot so I’m really self conscious about it - hence the lighting.
& the latest issue is a problem in my right eye affecting my vision which thankfully seems to be settling but in the meantime no carrying or lifting heavy weights.
I think in the current image conscious age we live in its very easy to be overly critical and really aware of the slightest flaw in our own appearance but realistically we are who we are, scars and all & that probably makes for more interesting photos that maybe capture more character.
