Papilio machaon

This photo was taken during summer holidays in my home town Fiumefreddo Bruzio (Calabria, Italy). I often see these butterflies twirling in the vegetation but I've never been able to take a picture of them. That day I couldn't find any insects to photograph but, while I was crouched watching the horizon, I found, to my surprise, this beautiful butterfly right next to me.
