Columnar Cliff Face

in Mt. Rainier National Park, a vista along Paradise Valley Rd.

 

Note the lines in the rock. They are oriented vertically on the right side of the cliff and sideways on the left side. The lines are part of structures called "columns", which are common in volcanic rock.
