Times running out

On February 11, 2022, Cleveland-Cliffs announced it would be permanently closing its Mountain State Carbon coke plant located in Follansbee, WV. The last coke push is expected to occur on the first of April and shortly after the closure process will commence, leaving 288 employees jobless. Mountain State Carbon is yet another rust belt causality and it’s closure will likely impact the already hard hit local economy.
