Batman: Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. Vol 1 #2
I swing back just to see the tip of the gun retreat back into the vent. I tell a guard to get medical supplies, and another to gather everyone in a safe room for the time being, as I have a feeling the assassin won't leave until he's finished his job,or until we stop him. I go tell all the panicked people what's going on, quickly look around, then head back to protect the leaders from the assassin. As I go back to the stage, I notice the guard is already on his way with the supplies. That guard must be really- Wait, he got taller, and more fit...
Bruce: "DIANA! Stop him! He's not a guard! He's the-"
I jump behind a pillar as a bullet zooms towards me. He shoots at Diana as he changes from the guard costume, but she blocks the bullets with her gauntlets, then charges at him. I usher the Wakandan towards the room with the others, then start helping the Kasnian leader to a safe side away from the battle. The assassin shoots, hitting my belt, causing me to drop some batarangs, but we make it safely away.
Bruce: "Stay put, and keep pressure on your wound."
I turn to help Diana, but then I hear a grunt mixed with a metallic clink, and what sounds like a body hitting the ground. Footsteps cause me to halt, and duck behind the nearest pillar.
Deadshot: "Your friend here is alive, but she won't be for long. Give me him and I shall spare her life. Resist, and you all die. Your choice."
His slightly-metallic voice is unsettling. I glance over. His right hand has a gun pointed at an unconscious Diana, who looks a bit bruised but otherwise unharmed. His left arm reveals the cause of the glint, as well as how he beat someone with what seemed like super-human strength. His left arm is robotic. And next to him is... an idea. Rummaging through my belt I find it. A manual detonator. I press the button, and the batarangs explode. Quickly I run forth and going behind him, kick down the back of his knee. He falls on his knees, and I push him down, kicking away his gun. He swipes at my feet, but I dodge, and he gets up. He takes a few swings, but I dodge them. I return a few, and he dodges most, but I land one in his gut. As he leans over, I grab his head and smack it on my knee, rendering him unconscious. I turn him around and cuff him, then check on the waking Diana.
Bruce: "You okay?"
Diana: (Groans). "Yeah, but my jaw is sore."
Suddenly a squadron of troopers in blue and white uniforms come rushing in from all directions. I check the assassin, but he's gone. I run to the wounded Kasnian leader, but get blocked by troops who got there before me. They tell me to put my hands on my head and get on my knees, but Diana intervenes.
Diana: "No need, he's not a threat to us. Is everyone else secure?"
S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent: "Yes ma'am."
Diana: "Good."
We walk away, and she tells me she works for an organization known as S.H.I.E.L.D., and that they knew about how both me and this assassin who goes by the name "Deadshot". Apparently they're the ones who gave me the tip, for they were thinking of recruiting me to help them take down criminals. Skeptical, I ask for more information. If I did join, it may get GCPD and others off my back, and I could get new resources and allies. I'll just have to learn as much as I can about this "S.H.I.E.L.D."
Six and a half years later Diana and I work together at S.H.I.E.L.D., and she becomes one of the best friends I've ever had. However, with my new job, I'd be meeting more like me than I though there ever were, both on my side, and against me....
---------------------------------------------------------Thanks for reading, and I hope you've enjoyed the origin of his co-operation with S.H.I.E.L.D. The next issues of their series will be in the present-ish day. Thanks for reading, and have a great day.
