Why did the Heron cross the road?
We were sitting down on the side of the Maribyrnong River ford watching the Great Egret fishing. On the other side of the ford this White-faced Heron had been standing watching the proceedings. Seeing that the Egret was doing very nicely thankyou, it decided to walk across to the other side to get some of the action. At that very instant a mountain bike rider came flashing down the path and across the ford. The Heron started to make a dash for it but quickly realised it better get out of the way fast so got into flying mode. This all happened in a second or two.
