Silver necklace 4 BW

This weeks Macro Mondays theme was black and white and square. Proved more of a challenge than I'd initially thought. While I've taken many photos that I thought, when processing them, would look good in black and white, it was more difficult to set out to photograph something that would look good in monochrome! And I struggled slightly with the square aspect, often either leaving too much space around two sides or having to chop off parts of the image on two sides if I'd gone in too close and couldn't get a square composition any other way. An interesting week.

 

My husband gave me this beautiful necklace for Christmas a few years ago and I've always loved the shape and fine 'crackly' texture on some of the surfaces. I thought it would be an interesting shape for this week's theme, and setting it on a shiny surface to get some reflection seemed to work well. Shot using the built-in LED ring on the macro lens and an additional LED torch shone not quite face-on to give slightly more light and shadow.
