Kamloops Lake View Point
Kamloops & Whisler, CANADÀ 2024
The Kamloops Lake View Point is a popular lookout point located west of the city of Kamloops, British Columbia. It is situated right on the Trans-Canada Highway (Highway 1) or the old valley road.
The Lake: The viewpoint offers a panoramic view of Kamloops Lake, a large glacial lake stretching approximately 29 km (18 miles) in length. The lake is where the South Thompson River meets the North Thompson River, before the Thompson River resumes its flow on the western side.
Scenery: The area is characterized by its semi-arid, high-desert aesthetic, with rolling hills covered in dry grass and sagebrush. The contrast between the deep blue waters of the lake and the brown and golden landscape of the surroundings is quite striking.
Point of Interest: The viewpoint is a key stopping point for travelers driving between Vancouver and the Rocky Mountains, or those following the Rocky Mountaineer rail route, as the railway runs along the lake's northern shore.
