Marjorie Rosenbaum Plaza

Cleveland, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA 2024

The Marjorie Rosenbaum Plaza, also known as the Air Show Plaza, is a commemorative square dedicated to Cleveland's aviation history, particularly its connection to the National Air Show.

Location: It is situated at the entrance to the Burke Lakefront Airport (BKL), near downtown and the Lake Erie waterfront, where the International Women's Air & Space Museum is also located.

Dedication: The plaza pays tribute to the "Golden Age of Aviation" in Cleveland, when the city hosted the National Air Races multiple times between 1929 and 1949. It also celebrates the performances of the modern Cleveland National Air Show (since 1964).

Key Features: The most prominent feature is the display of two F-4 Phantom II jet aircraft mounted on pedestals, painted in the colour schemes of the Blue Angels (U.S. Navy) and Thunderbirds (U.S. Air Force) demonstration teams.

Heritage: The plaza includes granite plaques detailing the stories of legendary pilots (such as Amelia Earhart and Jimmy Doolittle) and a mural featuring a quote from the famous poem "High Flight." The plaza is named after benefactor Marjorie Rosenbaum.
