BC-99

Kamloops & Whisler, CANADÀ 2024

BC Highway 99 is a major provincial highway running through western British Columbia, Canada, from the U.S. border north to near Cache Creek, spanning about 377 km in total. It is best known for its two world-famous sections:

Sea to Sky Highway (Vancouver to Pemberton):

Description: This is the most famous stretch, widely regarded as one of the most scenic drives in the world. It begins at sea level and climbs through breathtaking coastal and mountain scenery.

Communities: It connects Metro Vancouver with outdoor adventure communities like Squamish, Whistler, and Pemberton.

History: The section was substantially upgraded ahead of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics.

Duffy Lake Road (Pemberton to Lillooet and Beyond):

Description: This is the wilder, more mountainous, and remote section of the highway. It traverses dramatic alpine landscapes, including Duffy Lake and Joffre Lakes. It is known for its steep grades and sharp switchbacks.

Continuation: It continues north to the historic town of Lillooet and eventually terminates at Highway 97 near Cache Creek.

Essentially, BC-99 is an adventure and beauty route that links the coast, world-renowned ski resorts, and the semi-arid interior of British Columbia.
