Port Salve, L' Alguer.

SARDENYA 2024

L'Alguer (Alghero in Italian) is a coastal city located on the northwest coast of the island of Sardinia, Italy. It is famous as a "Catalan oasis" due to the survival of Algherese Catalan, a variant of the Catalan language, which was established after the city's conquest by the Crown of Aragon in the 14th century.

The Port of L'Alguer (also known as Port Salve) is a historic harbor that plays a crucial role in the city's life, as it is situated right next to the well-preserved medieval walled center. The port has been an important hub for trade and military strategy in the Mediterranean for centuries. Today, it functions as a fishing, commercial, and primarily a marina/yachting port, offering direct access to the historic center. The surrounding area also includes the large and strategically important Port del Comte Bay (Porto Conte), known for its natural beauty and as the site of the 1353 naval Battle of Port del Comte, which was key to Sardinia's incorporation into the Crown of Aragon.
