Via Carlo Alberto, L' Alguer.

SARDENYA 2024

Via Carlo Alberto is one of the most emblematic and central streets in the old town of Alghero (L'Alguer), Sardinia. It is considered the main commercial and historical artery of the old city.

Key Features:

Heart of the Old Town: It runs through the heart of the historic center, which is famous for its strong Catalan heritage. Alghero is known as "Little Sardinian Barcelona" due to its history and the still-spoken local dialect of the Catalan language.

Architecture and Atmosphere: The street is lined with historic buildings, often featuring elements of the Catalan Gothic style and Renaissance influences. It's a lively area, full of artisan shops, particularly those selling red coral jewelry (a typical local product), as well as small boutiques, restaurants, and cafés.

Points of Interest: Along or very close to Via Carlo Alberto are some of Alghero's most important monuments, such as the impressive Church of San Francesco (15th century), known for its cloister, and the iconic Church of San Michele with its vividly coloured majolica dome.
