Costa Smeralda.

SARDENYA 2024

The Costa Smeralda (Emerald Coast) is a coastal region in northeastern Sardinia, globally renowned as one of the most exclusive and luxurious tourist destinations in the Mediterranean.

Key Features:

Foundation and History: It is not a historical name but a registered trademark and a high-end tourism development project launched in 1962 by a consortium led by Prince Karim Aga Khan IV.

Design and Architecture: Its development was meticulously planned to preserve the natural beauty. A distinct architectural style (the Smeralda style) was created, characterized by soft lines, pastel colours, and harmonious integration with the landscape, utilizing local materials like granite and juniper wood.

Exclusivity: With over 50 km of coastline, the region is famous for its white sand beaches and emerald-coloured waters (hence the name). It has become a playground for the international jet set, featuring five-star hotels, luxury villas, and marinas like Porto Cervo, the true heart of the Costa Smeralda.
