Dublín, IRLANDA 2024
The Old Library is the principal library and most iconic building of Trinity College Dublin, constructed between 1712 and 1732. Its main attraction is the Long Room, a majestic, 65-meter chamber holding over 200,000 of the Library's oldest books. This library houses Ireland's greatest cultural treasure: the Book of Kells. The Book of Kells is a breathtaking illuminated manuscript of the four Gospels, created by Celtic monks around 800 AD. The room also displays the 1916 Proclamation of the Irish Republic and the Brian Boru Harp. This medieval harp is the national symbol of Ireland, serving as the model for the country's emblem. As a legal deposit library, it's entitled to receive a copy of every book published in Ireland. The Old Library is considered one of the world's most impressive libraries and remains one of Dublin's top tourist attractions.
