Villa "De Trompenburgh"

Villa "De Trompenburgh" is an important estate in 's-Graveland, probably built by Daniël Stalpaert for Admiral Cornelis Tromp, son of the legendary Admiral Maarten Harpertsz Tromp. The mansion has the shape of a ship and is surrounded by water. From the roof, designed as a ship's deck, the view extended to the Zuiderzee. Admiral Tromp received guests in this house during the summer months.

Trompenburgh is a special building from the Golden Age, it has survived the centuries almost unchanged. As the little brother of Huis ten Bosch Palace, it is one of the special buildings of 17th-century architecture. Both the design, a house with an octagonal dome and the painted decorations in the interior are of great historical value. The statues of women by the water represent the four seasons.
