Langtang Valley trekking.
Langtang Valley Trekking is often known as Nepal’s best kept secret. The valley is situated only 30 odd kilometers north from the Kathmandu Valley and shares borders with Tibet. Even though it lies in close proximity with the country’s most developed region – Kathmandu Valley – the Langtang Valley Trekking still sees very few trekkers in comparison to the Everest and Annapurna regions. The Langtang Valley trek will unfold the ancient and beautiful Tibetan Buddhism culture of several ethnic groups in the laps of the silver peaks. The valley is surrounded by awe-inspiring peaks on either side. The perfect harmony between the variations in elevation, topography and geology has resulted in a very unique vegetation of the Langtang Valley .
The 8-day-long trek begins with a memorable bus ride from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi in Rasuwa district. The trekking trail consists of beautiful places like the viewpoint of Lama Hotel, the main Langtang village, and the historic Kyanjin Gompa at an elevation of 3,870m. On our return journey, we will trek back to Dhunche through another route for a more enriched trekking experience. We will trek down through Thulo Syabru to reach Shing Gompa, another important monastery in the region. From the Gompa, we will trek down to Dhunche from where we will catch a ride to Kathmandu. We also have a Kathmandu Valley sightseeing tour scheduled for the next day, where we will visit some of the famous cultural and religious monuments of the valley that have been listed in UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
The Langtang area was hugely affected by the great earthquake of 2015, but with quick restoration and reconstruction efforts, the valley has bounced back at a commendable phase and has been reopened for trekking. The very rarely trekked trail of Langtang will lead us through diverse and rich vegetation that ranges from lush evergreen forests to cascading streams and sub-alpine grasslands. It is an extremely gratifying trek as we can have spellbinding views of central Nepalese mountains like the LangtangLirung, the tallest in the region; the massive Ganesh Himal Massif; Gang Chhenpo, Lenpo Gang, and Dorje Lakpa amongst other equally alluring peaks. To the south of the valley, we can see Chimse Danda ridge, Ganja La Pass, and the regal Mt. Jugal culminating in the Mt. DorjeLakpa. Since we will trek through the Langtang National Park, we might have rare sighting of exotic Himalayan faunas like the red panda, musk deer, snow leopard, and Himalayan Thar. It is also a great chance to explore the unique culture of the Tamang people, their interesting way of life, civilization, and culture that has resulted as a special blend of Nepalese and Tibetan Buddhism.
Also known as the Valley of Glaciers, the region is home to over 70 glaciers sourcing from different mountains. During our trek, we will be able to view some of these colossal glaciers that promise an unforgettable experience. There are also several pristine high-altitude ice lakes such as Gosaikunda, Bhairav Kunda, and Dudh Kunda – which are of great religious significance to Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims. The trek can also be customized to add new places and regions like the popular Gosaikunda Lake as per the trekker’s choice. Since the trek is of moderate grade difficulty, it can be undertaken by anyone in good physical health. Places like Syabru Besi and Dhunche are dotted with all kind of amenities, while there are also all kinds of basic facilities available in Langtang and Gosaikund route.http://teamhimalaya.com/package/langtang-valley-trekking/
