The circle of life in the Spotted Land

This very perceptive comment (see below) almost uncannily decodes my intention: "To my eye the blurred gazelle and spotted land are just as alluring as the cheetah transfixed on possible prey. It's like the hunter is having a dream, a perennial dream of a predator, and the picture amounts to a piece of art. Exceptional vision of classic suspense."

 

Mara means "spotted" in Maa, the Maasai language. You can see those spots in the blur of the hillside in the background. They're the widely-spaced date trees, Balanites aegyptiaca.
