Madhav Chandra Chowdhury, descending from Bharadwaja clan Dutta Chowdhury family of Andul is most likely the first to be employed under English government in India. He used to be a land surveyor and head clerk of a law-court, from where he was promoted to a judge. He soon was conferred the honourly title of ‘Rai Bahadur’. Of his time, he was very proficient on revenue issues. Under his endeavor he divided ancestral zamindari properties of his family and assigned among their shareholders or owners.
During his Andul visit on vacations he had assisted and guided several improvised families. There he has excavated pond and in 1757 AD he has erected a Shiva lingam temple. Formerly the presiding deity was known as ‘Phooleshwar’, as there used have a flower garden of the Dutta Chowdhury family. Later the entire property has been sold for 'Andul Bayam Samity’ [Andul gymnastic fraternity].
The Phooleshwar began to known as “Madhaveshwar”, after the Chowdhury re-construct the shrine. He also constructed the ‘Nat-mandir’ of Shiddeshwari Kali temple at Chowdhury para.
