No Excuse
It had been a while since I last went out for a shoot. The grey weather for weeks didn’t help either, and December isn’t particularly a quiet month, but it had more to do with my own motivation. There are always a thousand reasons not to go out and make photographs. Tiredness, watching Netflix, and if this doesn’t suit luckily there is always the weather. Too windy, too sunny, too rainy… all excuses I managed to find several times. And at this fresh start of 2025 it was the tide. I like to go to the beach with low tide, because of the patterns that show up under these circumstances, but this day the water was as high as it gets. Finding time for my photography is a real challenge these days, and even though this was one of the few occasions I could go out, I nearly talked myself out of it because of the tide. But now the fun part: I told myself to just go, it’s a lesson I’ve learned over the years and I know there’s almost always something waiting to be found, and if you don’t go than you will find nothing for sure. Arriving at my beloved beach The Maasvlakte I immediately saw the water was so high, it got all the way between the dune grasses, forming all sorts of puddles and reflections. I’ve been here quite some times by now and I hadn’t seen this before. I didn’t hesitate to use them in my compositions and with a lovely partial clouded sky I think it turned out to be a very nice start of the year. So now more straight to the point, the best thing to do when you want to create photographs is get out, no excuses! Most of the time you’ll make some images, and otherwise at least you got a nice breath of fresh air. But also, every now and then, you’ll stumble upon some unexpected magic😊 Have a great and photogenic year!
Thanks for having a look! All faves and comments are highly appreciated!
