Still in its Malcolm 100 Years celebratory livery, and recently re-named "Donald Malcolm", Class 90, 90021 makes its revenue-earning debut for new owners Freightliner as it leads 90009 through Hartford with 4S59 1457 Southampton Maritime Container Terminal to Coatbridge Freightliner Terminal. The 90s had taken charge of the train at Crewe Basford Hall.
Despite originally being put up for sale in December 2024, DB Cargo finally accepted Freightliner's bid for two of their 'operational' 90s - 021 and 039 - in early Summer 2025. The two 90s were collected from the ETD on 18/07/2025. The team at Crewe Basford Hall's VFM wasted no time in straightening out 90021 after several months out of use - going on its first test run eight weeks later on 11/09/2025.
