Replacement Chaperone (2)
Crewe Diesel Preservation Group's Class 47/7, 47712 "Lady Diana Spencer" - currently masquerading as 47 711 "The Lord Provost" on the side facing the camera and 47 709 "Greyfriars Bobby" on the other side - zips through Hartford with 0Z37 1710 Crewe Holding Sidings to Carlisle Upperby TMD LSL.
The Scottish Sulzer - on long-term hire to Locomotive Services Limited - was a late replacement for LSL's green 37(s) that had encountered technical issues earlier in the day, and was running to Carlisle to escort Flora the bubble car on its onward journey to the Highlands as part of the LSL Chairman's annual UK tour using his personal rolling stock.
Flora is vacuum braked, meaning only certain locos in the LSL fleet could act as its chaperone - and also why Network Rail wanted it accompanying over the busy northern stretch of the ECML, as any rescue required would be challenging.
