Another Day, Another Delay (1)

For the second day running, the Caledonian Sleeper Up Highlander (1M16) experienced a significant delay, passing through Hartford 108 minutes late and eventually arriving into Euston 100 minutes late. GB Railfreight Class 92, 92023 was providing the traction on this occasion.

The delay this time was a knock-on impact of the northbound Lowlander being delayed for over two hours by an unfortunate incident at Northampton. The driver from this service usually works it to Preston and then takes 1M16 back as far as Crewe, hence the knock-on delay.

On this occasion, to minimise the delay and also avoid the S26/M16 driver from potentially exceeding their hours, TM Steve Large - who was due to work 1M16 from Crewe to Euston - instead relieved his colleague on the delayed northbound Lowlander at Crewe. He then worked it forward to Preston, before a quick dash across the platforms to get 1M16 back on the move south.
