Going Blue
Locomotive Services Limited Class 43 HST Power Car, 43049 "Neville Hill" spends its last night in Crewe whilst still in InterCity Swallow livery.
Early next morning it left on the rear of 5Z43 0652 Crewe Holding Sidings to Eastleigh Works to be repainted into the Nanking Blue of LSL's highly-successful Midland Pullman brand.
Although only painted two years' previously, the paintwork especially on the cab roof was showing evidence of deterioration.
With the contrasting fortunes of LSL's InterCity and Midland Pullman offerings over the past couple of years, it's a no-brainer from a business perspective to utilise the group's operational HST assets to ensure the reliability and longevity of the Midland Pullman brand.
Also on the move to Eastleigh were 43 047 (out of shot - traction motor repair) + Mk3 TF 41162 (internal upgrade) + Mk3 TFD 41208 (in EMR livery, but also becoming a Midland Pullman vehicle) + 43049
