The Call From Control

The driver of GB Railfreight Class 92, 92020 “Billy Stirling” finally gets the OK from Control to get the Caledonian Sleeper Down Highlander (1S25) away from Crewe at 01:25. The service had been held for over 90 minutes due to an unfortunate incident at Winsford.

 

Unusually, 1S25 was stopped at signal CE149 (rather than CE151) to keep the option of a diversion via Manchester open had a pilot been found. In the end, no-one with a Baker Atlas was forthcoming so Driver Steve and 92020 just had to sit it out.
