100 Years of Malcolm Logistics

DB Cargo's Class 90, 90021 "Donald Malcolm" in its new Malcolm 100 Years anniversary livery heads through Crewe, having been brought out of Toton on 0Z23 05:45 Toton TMD to Crewe ETD by Class 67, 67020.

The logo reads "100 Years / 1922-Malcolm Group-2022 / Celebrating A Centenary" and the locomotive is named after Donald Malcolm, who was the founder of the company. Of note, the nameplate is only on this side (for now at least).

90021 has been stored since January 2016, but having had its overhaul completed is now very close to re-entering traffic.

90021 was one of the five DB Cargo Class 90s selected for the ill-fated Grand Central Euston-Blackpool services and reinstatement work was almost complete when the pandemic saw those plans shelved in mid-2020. Work on 90021 was halted, but then recommenced last year, with DB in the process of bringing it back to increase their pool of active Class 90s up to 12 in number.
