Twenty-Two's New Wheels
A quintet of DB Cargo Class 67 "Skips" pass through Crewe station on 0Z54 08:05 Crewe Electric Traction Maintenance Depot to Toton Traction Maintenance Depot.
Current taxi-in-chief 67 020 (out of shot) was powering the move, followed by 67022, then TfW-liveried 67017 and finally the two Royal Train Class 67s, 67005 "Queen's Messenger" and 67006 "Royal Sovereign".
67022 has been stored at Crewe since June 2019, however it was sporting fresh bogies and wheels. It is understood to be on the comeback trail to help work the expanded TfW Mk4 services, which are being supplemented by the ex-Grand Central stock that was originally intended for the ill-fated Euston-Blackpool services.
The Royal pair were being moved to Toton ready for weekend railtour duties, however 006 promptly failed at Toton and 020 was unexpectedly called into action to partner 005.
