The Class 40 Preservation Society's Class 40/1, 40145 / D345 and privately-owned Class 40/0, 40013 / D213 "Andania" - both on hire to Locomotive Services Limited - roar through Hartford with the ECS from the InterCity Devonian Double tour.
D05 Preservation Ltd's Class 47/4, 47828 - also on hire to LSL - was tucked in behind the Whistlers, having been providing ETH and ECS draw-back duties at Plymouth for the tour. The 40s had run round at Preston, however, meaning 47828 could sit back and enjoy the ride back to Crewe.
The return ECS was running as 5Z42 22:37 Preston to Crewe Holding Sidings.
