Not Who I Expected To See
GB Railfreight Class 92, 92043 races through Hartford with a delayed and short-formed Caledonian Sleeper Up Highlander running as 1Z16 (vice the usual 1M16).
The service was 89 minutes late at this point and running as a Load 8 (Aberdeen and Fort William half of the train only) on a revised VSTP path from Edinburgh after the Class 73/9 (966) on the Inverness portion suffered severe wheelflats and was terminated at Stirling leaving the Inverness portion stranded there.
The Fort William portion was also impacted by by weather-related delays, so even the half of the train that made it south was almost an hour and a half late.
Due to the disruption, the forward driver from Crewe, Mr. Bie, had travelled to Preston to work it from there to Euston instead, so it was a pleasant surprise to see him in the chair.
