Black 90s Back to Base
DB Cargo Class 90, 90019 "Multimodal" brings sister locos 90020 and 90029 back home through Chorlton on 0Z91 12:15 Wembley InterCity Depot to Crewe ETD.
The debranded Grand Central-liveried pair were two of the five Class 90s that were due to be hired to Grand Central for use on the Open Access Euston-Blackpool services. However, these were abandoned earlier in the year due primarily to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on passenger numbers.
Instead the pair had been keeping the four GC Mk4 short sets warm at Wembley on behalf of Grand Central whilst the ROSCO (Eversholt) looked for an alternative customer/use.
It would appear this has not yet occurred and the DB 90s have returned to base at Crewe where they will retake their place as part of the main DB 90 pool.
The Mk4s left in the cold at Wembley now face an uncertain future.
