Stock Heating Skodas
DB Cargo Class 90s, 90020, 90029 and 90026 head through the Up & Down Loop at Crewe on their way to collect Mk4 set GC03 from Crewe Carriage Sidings and take it on to Wembley ICD to join up with the other three ex-Grand Central Mk4 sets already there.
Ultimately only 020 and 029 made the trip south with the stock, with 026 left at Crewe after some apparent paperwork issues.
The 90s are due to provide ETH for the Mk4 stock, which will be warm-stored at Wembley on behalf of the ROSCO for the foreseeable future.
The stock is now surplus to requirements following the cancellation of the proposed Grand Central Euston-Blackpool Open Access services due primarily to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on passenger numbers.
The three 90s pictured were three of the five intended to work the services and were the three that made it into the Grand Central livery (now debranded). They remain in DB Cargo ownership, but continue to be hired for the time being by Grand Central to keep the stock warm whilst efforts are made by the ROSCO (Eversholt) to find a new customer.
Photo-bombing the shot is the current Crewe Thunderbird, Direct Rail Services Class 57/3, 57304 "Pride of Cheshire".
