West Coast InterCity Old and New
On its second outing since being re-liveried into InterCity Swallow, Locomotive Services Limited's Class 82 Mk3 DVT, 82139 glides to a brief halt at Hartford leading the 5Z92 Preston to Crewe Diesel Depot test / training run.
Meanwhile, disappearing rapidly north on the left of the shot is Avanti West Coast Class 390 Pendolino 390121 with the 1S58 11:10 Euston to Glasgow Central service.
The Class 90 (002 was powering from the rear) and DVT were on one of a series of test runs along with ex-Greater Anglia Mk3 stock (soon to be repainted into InterCity too) as part of preparations for LSL's new InterCity charter offering starting later in 2020.
The itinerary for the debut year has now been released, starting with the Royal Scot on 21 November from Euston to Glasgow and the Midland Scot on 5 December from Birmingham to Glasgow, before a full season commencing in April 2021.
