The service's progress had been frustrated by Warrington PSB putting out a test train (1Q42) in front of 1M16, with the test train then needing to stop at Warrington for its relief driver. A revised timetable was in operation due to the Covid-19 pandemic, with two trains running in each direction - one to Inverness and Fort William and the other to Edinburgh - meaning no services to Aberdeen or Glasgow Central.
