Rescued and Rescuer
Locomotive Services Limited's Class 47, 47501 (D1944) "Craftsman" stands coupled to Class 90, 90002 "Wolf of Badenoch" outside Crewe Diesel Depot.
The 47 had suffered issues on the previous Friday evening on the return leg of The Dartmouth Regatta Statesman tour to Rugby and was left there when sister engine 805 took the ECS solo north to Crewe for The Lakelander the next morning.
90002 then ran down to Rugby on the Saturday afternoon to recover the stricken Duff and return her to Crewe for attention. With it being the late summer Bank Holiday weekend, the locos were still tied together on the Monday awaiting shunting of the 47 into the TMD for repairs.
