Avanti West Coast Class 390 Pendolino 390001 stands on the Up Fast just south of Winsford after the overhead lines came down in front of it leaving it stranded. Passengers had just been detrained on to a Super Voyager that had been brought alongside on the Up Slow.
With services already heavily disrupted by Storm Ciara, 390001 was working a revised 9G52 11:17 Preston to Birmingham New Street service when it found it could get no further.
