Contrast
Ex-Virgin Trains Class 86/2, 86229 stripped of many parts sits outside the Freightliner Crewe VMF (Vehicle Maintenance Facility). A much smarter and operational locomotive - Class 66, 66419 - stands in front of the demic can sporting the new bold orange Freightliner livery.
The 86/2 was stored in October 2003 and had been at Long Marston for several years before being acquired in March 2016 as a spares donor by Freightliner for its 86/6 fleet.
Operational Class 86/6, 86628 is just visible in Road 4 of the shed.
(Photographs taken on organised tour of Freightliner's Crewe Basford Hall yard.)
