Death Row
Two demic electric locos await their fate in a dead-end siding at Crewe Basford Hall.
The front of the two engines is ex-Virgin Trains-liveried Class 86/2, 86251 (formerly "The Birmingham Post"). The 86/2 was stored in October 2002 and had been at Long Marston for several years before being acquired in March 2016 as a spares donor by Freightliner for its 86/6 fleet.
Behind is Freightliner's stored and very derelict Class 90, 90050 has seen far better days. Withdrawn in December 2004 after suffering a serious fire, it has been alleviated of many parts over the years and is now little more than a rusting shell.
(Photographs taken on organised tour of Freightliner's Crewe Basford Hall yard.)
