New Ownership

The morning after another change in ownership of GB Railfreight was made public, it's business as usual as Class 66, 66785 thunders through Hartford station with the 6X41 loaded STVA service from Dagenham Dock to Garston Car Terminal.

GBRf have effectively been sold from private equity investment firm (EQT) to another - Infracapital, part of M&G (formerly Prudential UK). It remains to be seem how much difference this has to the operations on the freight operator on the ground.

If I were a betting man, I'd expect to see more considered growth in core areas, particularly intermodal and other large volume flows - and a reduction in some of the unprofitable 'odds and sods' the company picked up on its way as part of the rapid expansion (aka land grab!) under EQT's ownership. This STVA flow could well fall into the latter category.
