Troublesome Truck
With the Mk5 introduction on the Caledonian Sleeper Highlander delayed, the classic Mk3 and Mk2 stock remains in situ. Also severely delayed was this working of the Up Highlander (1M16) as it raced into the morning mist at Acton Bridge with Freightliner Class 90, 90049 in charge.
Due to a stock issue at Waverley that required the fifth coach in the rake to be shunted to the back in marshalling manoeuvres hindered by various engineering possessions, the train left Edinburgh two hours late. Whilst a bit of time had been recovered by the time 90049 had reached Acton Bridge, it was still 107 Late at this point. After encountering traffic on the southern WCML it ended up 118 Late at Euston.
