Comeback Complete
Not my best ever Class 92 photo, but a momentous one as GB Railfreight's reinstated 92006 works its first Class 1 Sleeper, hauling the Down Lowlander service (1S26) through Crewe station in the early hours of 8 August 2019.
Having been stored in February 2006, reinstatement work began on 92 006 in early 2017 and she was finally released from the Brush works in Loughborough on 2 July 2019. A little over a month later, she had her first taste of what GB have spent £2m on bringing her back to do - hauling the Caledonian Sleeper.
Fellow returnee 92 020 was also out on 1M11, which also meant that for the first time both Lowlander trunk runs were in the hands of the two reinstated engines, with over 31 years in store between them. 006 arrived RT with 1S26 and 020 was 38E into Euston with 1M11.
