The Train Now at Platform One...

Due to the diversions via Manchester during the remodelling of Acton Grange Junction (near Warrington) the Caledonian Sleeper Down Highlander (1S25) was unusually on Platform 1 at Crewe station.

With the 10 CAF-modified Class 92s now all set up for 1500V ETS to work the new Mk5 stock, the Highlander will be almost exclusively hauled by hired-in Freightliner Class 90s until the new stock is rolled-out on those routes (expected September). 90043 does the honours on this occasion.

In the cab, one of GB's regular sleeper drivers is joined by a colleague to act as pilot for the diversionary route from Crewe to Preston via Manchester and Chat Moss.
