Debussy Scratches Some Rare Track
Not your everyday sight at Crewe station - a Class 92 on a rake of Caledonian Sleeper Mk5s in the former mail platform!
A TCMS glitch led to a very vigorous application of the emergency brake on 1S26 on the night of Tuesday 11th June at Atherstone (south of Stafford). This resulted in nine of the 16 coaches receiving severe wheelflats. After detraining the passengers at Stafford, the train limped to Crewe at 15 mph where it was examined and ultimately taken into Locomotive Services' Crewe Diesel Depot - as that was the only nearby place with sufficient sidings and room to perform the shunts needed.
On Wednesday the seven "OK" coaches were extracted and taken to Wembley that night. On Thursday, seven of the remaining nine were marshalled ready to be taken to the Longsight wheel lathe on Thursday night at 15 mph running as 5Q01.
GB Railfreight's Class 92, 92 043, waits for its night-time plod at the head of 15330, 15331, 15333, 15314, 15205, 15007, 15309. Two other coaches remained behind at the depot.
