Modified for the Mk5s

GB Railfreight's Class 92, 92 043 (formerly named "Debussy") pauses at Crewe awaiting the signal to run into the Crewe neck siding just south of the station.

92043 had just been released from the Brush works at Loughborough after being there for three and a half months having the CAF modifications completed to enable the loco to work the new Mk5 Caledonian Sleeper stock. These include the addition of the Dellner couplings, remanufacture of the draw-hook, fitting of retractable buffers and a range of electronic mods to enable the loco to work with the Mk5s. The longer / thicker ETS cable on the buffer beam nearest the camera also indicates 043 is already configured to 1500v ETS ready to haul the Mk5s.

92043 is the ninth Class 92 to be released from Brush with the CAF modifications to enable them to haul the new Mk5 Sleeper stock. 006 is the tenth and (so far) final engine planned to receive the mods, with 032 and 044 not currently due to receive them.

92043 was brought to Crewe from Brush, Loughborough as 0Z81 by two-thirds of the GBRf Rail Services Class 47 fleet - 727 (hauling) and 749 (DIT).
