Ton-Up Skoda

Hired-in Freightliner Class 90, 90 049, does its best to make up time with the delayed 1M16 Highlander Caledonian Sleeper service as it races south through Acton Bridge.

The service was 52 Late at this stage after the earlier diesel-hauled Inverness portion was diverted at late notice via Aberdeen due to signalling issues at Blair Atholl.

The Skoda - on hire to GBRf to back-fill their Class 92s involved with Mk5 modifications and testing - is able to haul the Beds up to 100 mph when running late, compared to the normal service speed of 80 mph. The line speed here is 110 mph (for non-tilting trains) so it is likely 90049 was doing a ton at this point.
