Mint Milton

Finally on their way out of Brush - GBRf Class 66, 66 752 "The Hoosier State" hauls Class 92s 92 010 and 92 020 (formerly named "Milton") at walking pace out of the Loughborough Brush factory complex to form 0M92 to Crewe.

Having been in the works since 18 August for CAF modifications, 92010's time away from active duty was brief compared to 92020's mammoth 17 years and 8 months in store. Withdrawn in April 2001 and having spent time in store at Crewe, Cheriton, Frethun (Coquelles) and Loughborough, 020 was finally leaving the works as an active locomotive once more.

92020 was one of the European Passenger Services (EPS) Class 92s allocated for the failed Nightstar European sleeper services - and indeed was used in the press launch photo shoot at Waterloo station on 1 February 1995. After seeing some use as a shared pool locomotive, 020 was eventually withdrawn in April 2001 and stored at Crewe IEMD after EPS could not find a buyer for their seven 92s.

92020 was finally bought by Europorte (Eurotunnel's freight subsidiary) on 15 Feb 2007 and eventually moved to France (via Loughborough and Cheriton) where it was stored in Frethun depot. Europorte sold all their 16 Class 92s to their then-subsidiary GB Railfreight in February 2014.

92020 returned to Loughborough in October 2014 and reinstatement work commenced in earnest in 2017.

The locomotive is equipped with CAF mods (including Dellners) to work the Caledonian Sleeper services when the new Mk5 stock is introduced and can also perform freight duties.
