Nearing the End
With only a few months left in operation after c.35 years service, Caledonian Sleeper Mk3 SLE 10693 (leased from Porterbrook) waits at Inverness to take guests south on the 1M16 Highlander service to Euston.
10693 is one of the few Mk3s/Mk2s to have received the Serco Caledonian Sleeper vinyls. The decision not to rebrand much of the fleet when Serco took over the contract on 31 March 2015 was based on the expectation at the time that the old stock would all be replaced by the new Mk5s by April 2018. As it happens it's now expected to be the end of May 2019 before the Mk3s are finally relinquished of their Sleeper duties.
