Secret Agent Skip

Befitting its secret agent 007 number, GBRf-operated and DB Cargo-owned Class 67, 67 007 looks to throw observers off the scent by disguising itself in EWS colours, despite that company having not operated for over a decade.

A Class 67 is still hired-in by GB Railfreight from DB Cargo to supplement the diesel fleet operating the north of Edinburgh Caledonian Sleeper portions whilst some of the Class 73/9s support Mk5 testing.

For a variety of operational reasons, the "Skips" are best suited to the Inverness portion and have covered the vast majority of turns on this route since Serco/GB took over the sleeper franchise in Spring 2015 - and for several years before that when EWS/DB provided the traction.

With the Mk5s on the horizon, the 67s' long association with the Sleeper is drawing to a close. One of the recent regulars, 67007 stands at Inverness ready to haul the 1M16 Highlander service to Edinburgh before handing over to a Class 92 for the run to London.
