Greys Are Numbered
With GBRf Class 92, 92 044 "Couperin" (along with 032) not due to receive the CAF mods to work the new Mk5 sleeper stock, and also expected to lose its original "triple grey" livery when it gets overhauled in 2019, opportunities are running out to capture this engine - and a grey 92 - on the beds. 044 only occasionally works the sleeper these days, so when it had to sub in at late notice for 028 (which was trapped in Wembley Loco Holding Sidings between DB's 92 042 and 92 041) it was an opportunity not to be missed to capture it at Crewe.
Seen here at the head of the 1S25 Euston to Inverness, Aberdeen and Fort William Caledonian Sleeper Highlander service, the Dyson would work the train as far as Edinburgh before handing over to diesel traction.
