Photo Finish

After a photo finish in the 2018 Grand National, the Belmond British Pullman Venice-Simplon Orient Express (VSOE) stock heads back from its recess in Crewe to Liverpool to collect race-goers.

In the evening sun at Winsford, DB Cargo Class 67, 67021, brings up the rear of the 5Z50 ECS move from Crewe Carriage Sidings to Liverpool Lime Street, where it would then lead the 1Z50 charter service back to London Victoria.

The other DBC Class 67 that has been painted into the matching chocolate and cream Pullman livery, 67024 (seen earlier in the day) was at the other end leading the ECS towards Liverpool.

With this train normally operating in the South East, it was a rare opportunity to see it "up North" - and the first time I believe with the two VSOE 67s in their new matching liveries.
